One of the major problems identified with getting the monthly newsletter to members in a timely manner was the fact it is sent 'bulk mail'. Bulk mail offers us a discounted postage rate but also means late, unreliable deliveries. It also means we have to mail over 200 pieces each time. It requires much sorting and prepping by our UWEX support staff.
As we transition into the next season we have the opportunity to make some changes with the newsletter:
1. New editor, new design.
2. Smaller mailing list now means we do not qualify for bulk mail (under the 200 threshold) so we will mail first class instead.
3. Because we are not beholden to that 200 threshold anymore we are able to send a copy to you via e-mail.
The December issue will be mailed in the upcoming week. In the future, if you do not wish to receive the hard copy via snail-mail, please e-mail Judy Horvath. The newsletter will be posted to the Rock-Hort-List for you to download.
