Phenology and degree day calculations with an early spring

With this year's early spring it may be wise to read up on the traditional methods that can tell you when to plant your crops and how to calculate degree days. Why?

Perhaps the first questions to ask is - is phenology an exact science?

And the next - how about degree day calculations?

The simple answer is - exact? No. Helpful. Absolutely!

To learn more about Phenology and degree day calculations visit the UWEX Horticulture website and download fact sheets that tell the history of both, and give insight into how they came to be used to help farmers and gardeners.
