Song Sparrow Open Greenhouse Day

Just about 15 miles east of Janesville is Song Sparrow Farm - the nursery owned and operated by Roy Klehm, one of the top plant breeders in the country. Song Sparrow usually only sells by mail-order, but once a year they open their greenhouses for the public to come, browse and buy. It’s a ton of fun to wander, see what unusual items they have and find something you just can’t live without. Plus you’ll save the cost of shipping, which can be considerable.

Open house date: Saturday, June 13, 2015
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Get a preview of what you might find at: www.songsparrow.com

Getting there: Would you like to carpool to this event? Let’s meet at 7:45 a.m. in front of the Office Max in the Creston Park Shopping Center on Milton Ave. It’ll be easy to head east from there on County Highway A toward Song Sparrow. If you want to go but the carpool does not work for you, the address is 13101 East Rye Rd, Avalon, WI 53502

Pre-order option: If you fall in love with something as you browse the website, the best way to ensure you get it is to order it for pick up either in early May or at the June open house. Latest date to pr-eorder: June 5. (Note: herbaceous peonies can’t be pre-ordered as they are only dug in the fall.) Check out the pre-ordering Instructions on the website by clicking on Customer Service (top right), then scroll down a little and find the link to “more information on the open house and pickup days” just above the “Contact us” subheading.
