At this year's Garden Expo in Madison state Master Gardener Coordinator, Mike Maddox, introduced a new option for MGVs all over the state - the volunteer vest. Volunteers at the MGV booth at Garden Expo were the first to wear the vest in public. The vest is a khaki color with two front pockets (see photo at right). The originals were without pockets, but the Garden Expo volunteers suggested pockets be added, and so the design was upgraded to include them. The vest has the state Master Gardener Volunteer logo on the back. It is available in sizes S, M, L, XL, and XXL. All sizes (except XXL) are $24.00 each. The XXL is $25.00. Shipping for each vest is $3.00.
Vest owners can individualize them with pins, and decorations as long as those items do not conflict with the UWEX Master Gardener Volunteer Program guidelines.
The vest is not required to be worn when you are volunteering. Rather, it is a personal choice that each MGV can make. If you would like people to know that you are a MGV when you are out in the community working on a project, this is an ideal way to make your presence, and our organization, known.
Orders are not to be sent to Mike individually. Please send or hand deliver your order to the UWEX office where either Horticulture Advisor Christy Marsden or support person Kim Mork will accept your check. The office will then forward all orders to Mike. All checks must be made to "Top Promotions".
Deadline for orders is Wednesday, May 27. The vests will be received about three weeks after that. They will be available at the office for pickup.
When placing your order please give your full name, quantity, size, and telephone number and/or email address so we can notify you when your vest arrives.
