JULY EVENT - RPMGA Meeting Followed by Tree ID Hike

When:  Thursday, July 2, 5:30 p.m.

Where:  Palmer Park, Janesville - Pavilion at the corner of Mohawk and Palmer Dr.

What:  RPMGA meeting - a vote will be taken on proposed by-laws modifications.

Followed by:  An educational event open to all members as well as their families and friends.

Members of the Rock Prairie Master Gardener Association (RPMGA) are invited to a brief business meeting at 5:30 pm in the pavilion at the corner of Mohawk and Palmer Dr to take a final vote on changes that have been suggested by the RPMGA Advisory Committee.  (Note: only qualified members will be able to vote.)

Following the meeting members and their families and friends are invited to follow the Tree ID Trail set up in Palmer Park.

The Janesville Shade Tree Advisory Committee (JSTAC) created the Tree ID Trail of about 20 trees several years ago in Palmer Park.  The group chose Palmer Park because of its abundance of tree varieties.  To increase the fun and excitement, each tree is identified by GPS coordinates and can be located using either your handheld GPS or your SmartPhone GPS app.  Below is a list of trees complete with their GPS coordinates and an aerial map that shows each station from the air.

Bring a notepad and pencils for your group so they can write down their observations.  Each tree is identified with a metal name plate etched with the common name and botanical name of each tree, the number of the station, the GPS coordinates and JSTAC's identification.

Attendance at this event will earn qualified MGVs Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at the rate of 1 per hour.
