Solanum lycopersicum procurement team for Garden Festival

This is a follow up to the e-mail I sent on August 3, 2011.  Thank you to all who replied.  I was traveling (and sick) during the days after that message and was unable to get back to everyone individually.

Attention Master Gardeners!

I need a team of volunteers to help harvest the 25+ varieties of tomatoes the morning on August 27, before the Garden Festival.  We will meet at 6:30am and begin the harvesting.  I need at least 3-4 pick up trucks to shuttle the harvest to the site of the festival before 9am.  I could use about 10-15 sets of helping hands in order to get it done in a timely manner without it being too much work for anyone.

Schedule:

  • 6:30am, meet at Rock County Farm, Janesville (near the Sheriff's Office)
  • Load first truck with washing supplies and tomatoes.  Send to Garden Festival site.  Truck and driver stays at Garden Festival and helps continue set up there.
  • At farm, remaining trucks are loaded.  When second truck is full, it is sent to GF site and helps with set up there.
  • We continue to load and send trucks one-way from farm to GF until all 25+ varieties are harvested.  Then team relocates to GF site to help with set up as needed.

Volunteers as of 8/12/2011:
  • Kristine Z.
  • Ruth F.
  • Laurie O. (has truck)
  • Julie M. (has truck)
  • Shirley D. (has truck)
  • Joe R. (has truck... your wife volunteered you)
And Robin A. as volunteered the use of her truck, if needed.
