June 5 event - Join us for a trip to Northwind Perennial Farm!

Roy Diblik at Northwind.
Join fellow gardening enthusiasts and bring a friend! We're heading out to Northwind Perennial Farm for a visit. Located on a 10 acre farmstead a few miles north of Lake Geneva, Northwind specializes in plants you can count on to be reliable here in the upper Midwest, plus unique garden art and sustainable landscaping. It's also the home of nationally known plantsman, landscaper and author Roy Diblik. We're not expecting Roy himself, but we will get the guided tour and have a chance to wander the display gardens. Plus, you'll get a 10 percent discount on any purchases you make that day. Sounds like a lovely Sunday afternoon.

Our tour begins at 1:30. We can bring up to 50 people, so please let us know if you're coming and if you're bringing a guest. RSVP to the Extension office at 608-757-5696.

Carpool: We're meeting at 12:15 at the old Denny's on Midland Road, just north of St. Mary's Hospital. If it's easier to meet us at Northwind, just let us know to expect you.

Optional addition: June 5 is also the last day of Hostafest at Al's Autobody and Hosta Arboretum. It's only a few miles off our route to Northwind. For those who wish to do both, we'll have directions available.

For more info: www.northwindperennialfarm.com and www.hostafest.com.

(Note: This event is sponsored by the Rock Prairie Master Gardener Association, but you don't have to be a member to come. If you got this notice, you're welcome.

MGVs: Tours at either location count toward your continuing education requirement. Travel and shopping time does not.

  1. Northwind is one of my favorite places, always impressive. Check out the grasses that they have for sale, as well as a lot of unusual perennials and native plants. Be sure you walk the display gardens and see the stone pyramid and mature mixed plantings in different light and water situations. I, unfortunately, have several commitments that day and will not be able to share the joy.
