Ripening Strawberries

Friday, February 3, UWEX Rock County Ag. Educator Nick Baker, will present a talk on small fruits.  The class will be held in the second floor conference room (the CCC room) in the Rock County Courthouse at 5:30 pm.

Small fruits are those which are small but highly productive. This makes them well suited to the small garden or yard.

So, what exactly are small fruits?  For the purposes of this class, strawberries, red raspberries, currants, gooseberries, grapes, and elderberries.  (Note:  This is not a complete list.)

One of the reference documents that you may find particularly helpful in choosing your small fruits is UWEX publication A2582 - Home Fruit Cultivars for Southern Wisconsin.  Although this publication includes other fruits as well - apples, stone fruits, and others, the Small Fruit sections begins on Page 5 in the right-hand column.  Below are a few other publications that may help as well.
