About David…
David is a Lillium enthusiast, and has been a backyard hybridizer since 2016. He got interested in gardening in 2015 when he did the landscaping at his house. He was especially intrigued by lilies once he started learning more about them. The numerous colors and shapes and patterns available just captured his attention.
He started meeting people involved with the North American Lily Society, which in turn gained him friendships with people all over the world with a passion for lilies.
In 2016 he was a part of a recovery team that dug up Dr. Robert Griesbach’s 5 acre lily hybridizing property in Delavan, Wisconsin. Dr. Griesbach had been hybridizing lilies for over 30 years. His material is garden hardy and one of a kind.
Also, David is the chairman for the North American Lily Society seed exchange, which entails receiving the seed donations from members around the world, cleaning the seed and individually packaging the seed. He then makes a list available for the NALS website for members to order the seed, along with gathering photos as well.
Rock Prairie Master Gardener Association members volunteer in cooperation with University of Wisconsin-Extension to provide research-based educational and community service opportunities to its members and the surrounding gardening community.
