Did you know that all worms are not Good Guys? There is a new invasive species of worm in Northern Illinois called “jumping worms”—and they are nothing to jump up and down about. On July 16 at 6:30 p.m. you can learn why.
Join the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners in McHenry County, and Brad Herrick, ecologist and research project manager at the UW Madison Arboretum, for a program titled “Our Newest Invaders, the Jumping Worm.” This program will take place at the U of I Extension office in McHenry County, 1102 McConnell Rd., in Woodstock, IL, on Tuesday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person, and pre-registration is required.
Wisconsin has been dealing with the troublesome jumping worms for a few years, and these worms have been identified in both Lake and McHenry Counties in Illinois. Find out what these non-native invasive worms could do to our gardens, parks and natural areas.
To register and pre-pay for this class, visit https://web.extension.illinois.edu/registration/?RegistrationID=20606. Please register each guest separately so that the Extension has an accurate count. You can also call Brenda Dahlfors, U of I Extension Master Gardener Volunteer coordinator at 815-338-3737 if you have questions.
