Slowly but surely the shed is getting done

Hello everyone!  No pictures today, just a few quick comments.  Ruth and I spent two hours today priming the trim on the shed.  Got it all done.  It's an oil based primer so we'll need it to dry a good long time - at least 8 hours.

We're looking for helpers for this coming Friday.  We've only got a few more good days for painting left.  According to the weather man Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be warm enough to apply the first finish coat.  So we've decided on Friday.  We'll be meeting at the shed at 1 PM on Friday.  We're waiting until afternoon to be sure all the dew has dried off the building.

We'll be applying two finish coats, and two coats on the trim, but not on the same day.  The finish coat and the trim are latex but because we're putting it over an oil base primer it will have to dry a good long time between the two coats.  At least 8 hours.

We think you'll like the colors we've chosen.  The base in a great semi-gloss tan and the trim in a soft pea green.

Once the painting is completed and dried we'll install the solar light bar inside the building.  We tested it and it will provide good soft lighting even in complete darkness.  We also have a small battery powered lantern that we can use when loading and unloading after dark.  We'll install two hangers - one on the outside of the building, and one on the inside - so the lantern can be hung where it can light your way when you're loading and unloading.

The building has two locks - one key lock and one combination padlock.  The combination will be given only to those people who will be using the shed.  It is not to be given to anyone who is not a MGV.  We have a LOT of materials that will be stored in the shed and to replace everything would be very costly.  We know you'll all be very careful to keep it secure.

REMINDERS:

1 - Don't forget to send Deb Grams your dues
2 - Don't forget to order your new logowear.  The orders will all go in at the same time.
3 - We are still looking for anti-dessicant packets for the grab-N-go totes to keep all our materials dry.  There has been considerable rain since the shed was completed and we haven't see any leaks or wet spots so we're sure the building is good and tight, but condensation as the weather begins to get colder could affect paper goods.

Information on where to send your dues and how to order your logowear is in this month's newsletter which is available online.  Just go to the previous post for the newsletter and open it up.

We really hope to see a few of you out at the shed on Friday.  The final painting day is TBD.

If you have any questions, ideas, suggestions, please contact Mary at 608-322-4800.

CU Friday!!
