The Rock Prairie Master Gardener Association, located in Rock County, Wisconsin, is the 42nd association of the Wisconsin Master Gardener Program.

This blog is used to distribute timely information to association members regarding volunteer opportunities, MGV highlights, and other social tid bits.

Horticulture related information is to be directed to the Horticulture Educator or the Plant Health Advisors.

This blog is not for garden related questions.

Want to teach a class? And who would like to coordinate?

With Mike Maddox leaving his post as Education Director for RBG, RPMGA will be providing some of the 2011 adult education programming in conjunction with the RBG Education Committee.

There are six slots for the Thursday Evening at Rotary Gardens this coming year.

One is already confirmed - Janice Peterson will lecture on heirloom vegetables. Date to be announced.

We are awaiting confirmation from two others.

Another is awaiting approval by Mike Maddox.

We will need at least two more lecturers, perhaps three.

Presentation requirements are:
  • Your presentation should be 45 minutes to an hour and a half long.
  • It should be accompanied by a power point presentation.
  • If you will be providing handouts we will need them in time to copy prior to the event.
We are looking for a RPMGA member who would be willing to be the program coordinator for this project - touching base with the presenters to make sure all bases are covered, keeping tabs on whether there is anything the lecturer might need or want.

    I'm excited to teach a class - it should be a good experience for me to put it together and then talk. I encourage ANYONE thinking of this to just DO IT! One idea to throw out there: using the right gardening tool for the right job. I see more people not knowing how to use tools correctly, or not learning what tools are available until they've gardened for years! Anyone want to run with this idea??

    Sounds like a great idea to me, Janice. I think we could all learn from a class like that.
