January Meeting notes

The Rock Prairie Master Gardener Association January business meeting went well. Held in a conference room at the courthouse, the meeting was well attended.

We discussed committee assignments, the mission statement, the newly created volunteer project database being constructed by vice president Laura Boettcher. Reports were given on 2011 projects that are under way - the Mid-Winter Fun Day invitational for master gardeners from 11 counties along the Wisconsin/Illinois border; the Thursday Evening at Rotary Gardens series of six lectures, all to be presented by RPMGA volunteers (and the Herb Society) which will begin in March; and Garden Festival which will be held in August.

Following the business meeting Deb Grams took the floor for the Networking session and brought to the table a number of volunteer project ideas that she felt might be something that members of RPMGA could get involved with. These will be added to the new database which will be available on the Internet.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of RPMGA will be held at 5:30 pm on Thursday, Feb. 3 at the court house in the fourth floor conference room. A Networking session will follow the business meeting. For anyone who wishes to present volunteer project updates or new volunteer project ideas can be conformed for a 20 to 30 minute presentation following the business meeting. Please contact either Mary Kay Thompson or Jenny Membrino if you wish to speak.
