Looking for a MGV to represent RPMGA at WIMGA

The executive team of RPMGA, Mike Maddox, and all those fortunate enough to have worked with her, want to thank Anna Kokity for her dedicated service to RPMGA as our representative to WIMGA (Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association).

Anna has tendered her resignation from the post, effective immediately, citing family obligations. Her enthusiastic service as WIMGA rep provided a vital connection to the state organization that kept us informed on volunteer initiatives, MGV rules and regs, and programs and projects presented by organizations around the state.

With Anna's departure from this post we are left with an opening that would be perfect for a dedicated MGV who wishes to learn more about state MGV program and relay that information back to RPMGA. The post does not represent a heavy work load. Much of the connection to the "mother ship" can be maintained through the use of e-mail and phone.

A full summary of a local WIMGA representatives duties can be found at the link below.

The WIMGA Conference is an annual event where WIMGA reps and master gardeners get together for seminars, lectures, networking. It is also the annual business meeting. This year's conference Celebrating our Past, Cultivating our Future, Aug 5-7, 2011 will be held in Madison, hosted by the Madison Master Gardeners Association in celebration of their 25th anniversary. More conference information can be found here.

The WIMGA is managed by the 15-member Board, which meets monthly by WisLine (a UWEX electronic conferencing network that allows members to attend without traveling to a remote location), with two face-to-face meetings a year. A summary of each meeting is sent to each of the local representatives, who are expected to relay information to their local association by sharing key issues, discussions and policy changes made by the WIMGA or the WI MG Advisory Committee. Complete minutes of past meetings are available from any Board member or the Secretary of the Board.

For the full story on WIMGA visit About the Wisconsin Master Gardener Association website. To volunteer as WIMGA rep please contact either Mike Maddox, Mary Kay Thompson or Laura Boettcher. If you have any questions about what the representative does call or send an email. We'll get back to you asap.
