For those who couldn't make it, the Volunteer Recognition dinner was great. The volunteer fair (organized and set up by Robin Anderson and Deb Grams) prior to the sit-down portion of the event sparked ideas and a lot of discussion.
Out-going president Cindy Leverenz opened the dinner with a brief introduction. The potluck dinner was highlighted by good food, a lot of laughter, and spirited conversation.
After dinner Mike acknowledged our achievements as a group and presented kudos and awards to those within the group who made outstanding and noteworthy accomplishments this year.
Mike announced he will no longer be Education Director at Rotary Botanical Gardens. Once his contract with RBG expires at the end of December he will be moving on to another venue in Rock County where he will have an opportunity to work in Horticulture Therapy education, a subject that he approaches with great passion and enthusiasm. Mike encouraged the group to continue on with projects where RPMGA volunteers have shone in past years - like the docent/tour guide program, as speakers for the Thursday Night at Rotary Gardens series, maintaining Rotary's children's and adult education programs, hosting the spring symposium.
The evening was closed after a short address by incoming president Mary Thompson.
I'm proud to be a member of this vital and dynamic organization. It's always a pleasure to get to mingle with other MGVs. I'm excited to see what the coming year will bring.
